History of Goofy Golf
The Pensacola Goofy Golf location has long been a historic roadside attraction. For decades the signature T-rex greeted customers driving down old Highway 98. There were originally four locations in the Goofy Golf franchise. Our facility in Pensacola, and three others located in Biloxi, Fort Walton Beach, and Galveston Texas, were designed in the 1950's by Lee Koplin, and before Disney World even existed in Florida, Northwest Florida bustled with tourists from all over the south. After hurricane Katrina, the original Biloxi Goofy Golf (called Magic Golf), the first ever built in the franchise, was completely destroyed, making our location the oldest remaining facility in the franchise.
After the hurricane season of 2004, the Pensacola Goofy Golf was left in ruins. In early 2005, it fell under the new ownership of Jeremy Marsh who after losing the Daily Grind coffee shop in Hurricane Ivan, refurbished the old Goofy Golf property and reopened the coffee shop in the summer of 2005. In late 2006 he closed the Daily Grind for good and decided to bring back Goofy Golf; he and a number of friends and volunteers worked tirelessly for many months to repaint, rebuild and restore the property to it's former glory.
